Why did you decide to become a therapist?
My choice to practice in the field of psychology was a no-brainer. At a very early age, I realize that I flourish and am most content in situations where I can be useful to others around me. I enjoy engaging with people and supporting them in resolving their issues. Upon completing my undergraduate studies in psychology, I came to learn that although we all share this world together each individual has a different way of viewing this shared environment and the situations we may find ourselves in. Another powerful concept I took away from my formal education in the field is that this view of the world isn't always fixed and we as people have the ability to be able to change our perspective on the world around us in order to better serve us. Upon beginning my career as a psychologist, it has been my mission to share this information using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), neuropsychology, and brain spotting. I wholeheartedly believe that we all have the potential to gain control of our lives and make positive changes and I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their goals of living their best lives.
What do you bring to your therapy sessions, and what are some goals?
During a session with me, my clients can expect a comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment where they can disclose and process the most problematic and difficult aspects of their current and past life all while planning to alleviate the sources of those stressors in their future. My main objective as a therapist is to help my clients improve their overall quality of life and arrive at a place where they can live life on their own terms. During the sessions, I will be guiding my client in identifying and setting specific goals with measurable outcomes. My clients can also expect me to diligently track their improvements from the outcomes of therapy in order to ensure we are meeting our set objectives. The most common themes of therapeutic goals include reducing anxiety, improving moods, developing better communication skills, and building resiliency and self-confidence. Ultimately, I strive to empower my clients to take control of their own lives and make positive changes that will benefit them in the long term.
Why are you passionate about what you do?
I am passionate about what I do because I genuinely get to see my efforts make an impactful change in the lives of the people I work with and serve. There is no better feeling to me than seeing my client make use of the information presented to them and use that information to make gradual yet impactful changes in their lives and perspectives on the world around them.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to seek out new and exciting experiences. Whether that be going out to see a show, or sporting event, eating at a new restaurant, or meeting new people. I also love to play sports and be around the people I love most.
