Educational Background
I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology. My education emphasized evidence-based therapy and trauma-informed practice, which pairs seamlessly with the ShiftGrit Core Method™. My training in ShiftGrit Pattern Theory helps me understand the patterns that can shape how people think, feel, respond to challenges, and relate to themselves and others. This perspective allows me to work collaboratively with clients to recognize unhelpful patterns, understand what may be keeping them stuck, and bring limiting beliefs into awareness so they can begin to be removed. Clients can begin to break patterns that may have been keeping them stuck. This approach can help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, experience greater freedom in how they approach life, and create meaningful change that feels authentic to them.
Core Clinical Specialties
I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, and neurodivergence. I use evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's needs, with the goal of helping clients feel more confident, emotionally balanced, and better equipped to navigate life's challenges.
Client Populations You Serve
Adults, children, adolescents, seniors, and neurodivergent clients.
Clinical Concerns You Focus on Most
I frequently support clients with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, emotional regulation, stress, self-esteem, sleep difficulties, relationship concerns, and adjustment to difficult or unexpected life events. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where clients can understand what they are experiencing and develop practical tools to move forward.
Non-Clinical Concerns You Support
I also support clients who want to build self-confidence, strengthen self-worth, improve boundaries, develop healthier relationships, manage work-life stress, improve emotional resilience, and navigate major life changes. Therapy does not always have to begin with a mental health diagnosis. Sometimes clients simply want support in understanding themselves better and creating a life that feels more balanced and meaningful.
Certificates & Training
Additional training
EMDR basic training and workshops from PESI in CBT, DBT, and ACT.
How this training supports clients
The skills I gained from this training allow me to apply evidence-based therapeutic techniques, adapt interventions to individual client needs, and use a more structured approach to assessment and treatment planning. Clients benefit from more individualized and effective treatment, improved engagement and therapeutic progress, and practical strategies that support emotional regulation, coping, and overall functioning.
ShiftGrit Core Method™ & Clinical Approach
How I use the ShiftGrit Core Method™ in therapy
The ShiftGrit Core Method™ is used in therapy to help clients identify recurring emotional and behavioural patterns, understand the underlying beliefs and experiences that contribute to those patterns, and remove the limiting beliefs that may be keeping them stuck. In practice, I explore the client's presenting concerns and identify limiting beliefs that may have developed through past experiences. Through reconditioning, clients can work toward removing these limiting beliefs and developing more adaptive responses. This approach can help clients gain greater self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, build healthier coping strategies, and make meaningful changes in their relationships and daily functioning.
Which integrations I combine with it
I integrate EMDR and CBT with the ShiftGrit Core Method™ based on the client's needs and treatment goals. I use CBT to help clients identify and restructure unhelpful thoughts, develop practical coping strategies, and strengthen more adaptive behaviours, while EMDR can be integrated when trauma or distressing past experiences are contributing to current emotional and behavioural patterns. These approaches complement the ShiftGrit Core Method™ by addressing both the underlying patterns and the thoughts, behaviours, and trauma responses that maintain clients' difficulties.
If I could describe it in three words
Insightful. Transformative. Empowering.
Personal Background & Story
A formative experience in my career was
Working with clients who have experienced trauma and realizing how deeply our relationships and early experiences can shape emotional well-being. It inspired me to deepen my training and approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and a focus on meaningful change.
What inspired me to enter the field
What inspired me to enter the field is a genuine curiosity about human beings and a desire to understand how we think, feel, connect, and make sense of our experiences.
A lesson I've carried from my personal life
A lesson I've carried from my personal life is that growth often comes from embracing uncertainty, staying curious, and trusting that even difficult experiences can teach us something meaningful.
Personality & Connection
When I'm not in therapy-land
I'm usually exploring new places, enjoying time with the people I love, and finding little moments of joy and balance in everyday life.
A hobby or passion that grounds me is
Reading. It gives me a chance to slow down, recharge, and get lost in a good story or new perspective.
If I weren't a therapist, I'd be
A traveler, exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and learning from the people and stories I encounter along the way.
A favorite ritual or routine is
Starting my day with a cup of coffee and a few moments to slow down and set an intention for the day.
Therapy Style & Client Experience
My style in three words
Warm. Curious. Empowering.
How I balance warmth and strategy
I believe effective therapy requires both a strong therapeutic relationship and a clear sense of direction. I create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to be themselves, while also being intentional about helping them understand the patterns and limiting beliefs that may be keeping them stuck. I work collaboratively with clients to identify meaningful goals and choose strategies that fit their individual needs, so therapy feels both supportive and purposeful.
What I hope clients walk away with
I hope clients leave therapy with a deeper understanding of themselves, greater confidence in who they are, and a sense of freedom from the beliefs and patterns that may have been holding them back. I want them to feel that change is possible and that their past experiences do not have to define their future. Most importantly, I hope they walk away feeling more empowered to make choices that are aligned with who they truly are and the life they want to create.
Passions, Inspirations & Favorites
Three things I'm currently obsessed with are
- Reading fantasy novels
- Tasting different kinds of food
- Cooking
An unexpected source of inspiration in my life is
The process of hiking. It has taught me that progress does not always happen quickly or follow a straight path. Some trails are steep, rocky, or more challenging than expected, but each step forward brings you closer to the destination. Hiking reminds me to appreciate the journey, pause when needed, and trust that small, consistent steps can lead to meaningful growth. This perspective has influenced how I work with clients. I believe that even when progress feels slow or the path seems uncertain, each step can help us discover something new about ourselves and move forward.
A cultural moment or piece of art that shaped me is
The movie The Pursuit of Happyness. What stayed with me was its message about resilience and continuing forward even when circumstances feel overwhelming. It reminded me that our current situation does not have to define our future, and that meaningful change can begin with believing that something different is possible. This perspective has stayed with me in both my personal life and my work with clients. I believe people are capable of change even when they have been stuck in the same patterns for a long time. Sometimes, the first step is recognizing that the beliefs we have carried with us do not have to determine where we go next.
Clinical Interests & Specialties
I have a special interest in working with these populations because
I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults because each person brings their own experiences, strengths, and ways of understanding the world. I believe therapy should be adapted to the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I especially value creating a safe and supportive relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and comfortable exploring what may be keeping them stuck.
I have a special interest in working with these clinical concerns because
I have a particular interest in supporting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, emotional difficulties, stress, self-esteem concerns, and the effects of difficult life experiences. I am especially interested in understanding what may be underneath recurring patterns and limiting beliefs. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply managing symptoms and work toward meaningful change by addressing the beliefs and experiences that may be maintaining these patterns.
I have a special interest in these non-clinical concerns because
I enjoy supporting clients who want to build self-worth and confidence, improve their relationships, establish healthy boundaries, manage work-life stress, and navigate life transitions. Therapy can be valuable even when someone does not have a specific mental health diagnosis. Sometimes, clients simply recognize that they are repeating patterns they no longer want and want support in understanding themselves and creating a different path forward.
My additional areas of expertise include
EMDR, trauma-informed therapy, CBT, emotional regulation, self-esteem and self-worth, relationship concerns, stress management, and working with limiting beliefs and recurring patterns. I integrate these approaches based on each client's individual needs and goals, with an emphasis on helping clients understand themselves more deeply and create lasting, meaningful change.
Clinical Methods & Orientations
Which modalities I integrate with the ShiftGrit Core Method™
I integrate the ShiftGrit Core Method™ with evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-informed therapy. These approaches complement the ShiftGrit Core Method™ by providing practical ways to understand a client's experiences while identifying and addressing the limiting beliefs that may be maintaining recurring patterns. I tailor the combination of approaches to each client's needs, goals, and readiness for change, with the aim of helping clients not only manage their concerns but also create deeper and more lasting change.
Which methods feel most aligned with me and why
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the approaches that feels most aligned with me because it recognizes that difficult experiences can continue to affect how we see ourselves, even when we consciously know that the past is over. I appreciate that EMDR can help clients process distressing experiences and the negative beliefs connected to them, rather than simply learning to manage the symptoms. This fits closely with how I view therapy: I want to help clients understand what is underneath their current struggles and identify the beliefs or patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I find it meaningful to see clients develop a new understanding of themselves and experience greater freedom from the impact of past experiences.
Have I created unique blends of the Core Method with other approaches?
I have developed an individualized way of integrating the EMDR Core Method with CBT, depending on each client's needs and goals. I find that these approaches can complement one another well. While EMDR can help clients process distressing experiences and the beliefs connected to them, the CBT Core Method provides a framework for identifying limiting beliefs that may be maintaining recurring patterns. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from these methods thoughtfully and tailor therapy to each client. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply managing their symptoms and work toward meaningful change at the level of the beliefs and patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
Growth & Professional Development
A professional challenge I overcame
One professional challenge I have overcome was learning to trust that meaningful change does not always happen by simply addressing the symptoms we see on the surface. Early in my clinical development, I learned that clients can become caught in recurring emotional and behavioural patterns that may be connected to deeper beliefs about themselves. Through my clinical training and experience, including my work with ShiftGrit Pattern Theory, I developed a deeper understanding of how limiting beliefs can maintain these patterns. This changed the way I approach therapy. I became more focused on helping clients understand what is underneath their struggles and identify the beliefs that may be keeping them stuck. This experience has helped me become a more patient, curious, and individualized therapist. I now aim to meet clients where they are and work collaboratively with them to uncover the underlying beliefs that may be limiting them, creating the opportunity for meaningful and lasting change.
An area of growth I'm focused on now
I am continuing to deepen my understanding of how limiting beliefs and underlying patterns influence the way people see themselves and navigate their relationships and life experiences. I am especially interested in how we can help clients move beyond patterns that have held them back and create change at a deeper level. As I continue to grow professionally, I am also focused on becoming even more flexible in how I tailor therapy to each client. Every person has a different history, perspective, and pace of change, and I want my clients to feel that therapy is truly designed around who they are and what they need, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
Free Form
I see therapy as finding the knot beneath the surface. Sometimes, we keep experiencing the same emotions, reactions, or patterns without fully understanding why. It can feel like being caught in a loop, even when we consciously want things to be different.
I see therapy as a process of gently uncovering what is underneath that pattern, particularly the limiting beliefs that may have shaped how we see ourselves, others, and the world. When those underlying beliefs are recognized and released, the pattern no longer has the same hold on us. My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can discover what has been keeping them stuck and move toward greater freedom, confidence, and choice in their lives.
