Shift’s Specialized Protocol
As we adjust to a new normal and navigate uncertainty, many of us are facing new challenges. You’re probably finding yourself having to deal with at least one of the following:
- Kids, who are great, but are now around all the time;
- Elderly parents who aren’t taking this seriously enough;
- Your partner who has somehow, without really doing anything wrong, started to annoy you;
- Irritation at the news, social media and people constantly wanting to talk about it;
- Grief – you’ve basically lost part or parts of your life and don’t know when they’re coming back;
- Isolation – social distancing can get hard;
- Guilt – especially if you’re an essential service worker and are coming home every day to your family;
- Pressure to be super productive during your quarantine, like everyone else; or
- Owning a business when you have no idea what direction it could be going in.
Whatever it is, it’s probably not new. The current situation may be bringing to life some of our Limiting Beliefs, beliefs that we hold about ourselves and the world that become part of our identity. These can form early in our lives and continue to impact us well beyond the beginning of our adult lives. These beliefs creep up and impact the things we tell ourselves, our relationships, and the way we live our lives. The Survival Guide will help you identify some of these Limiting Beliefs and provide some tips on how to deal with them.
We’ve taken our carefully-designed Shift-specific protocol and tweaked it to help you navigate the challenges you’re facing due to the new locked-down “lifestyle”. Some of us have been lucky to be given an opportunity to reflect on the maladaptive behaviors we continue to exhibit. We will walk you through our Life Analysis protocol and help you figure out:
- What’s making you happy and feel satisfied?
- What’s allowing you to continue exhibiting maladaptive behaviors?
- What’s moving you away from progress?
Once we’re able to identify these factors, we’ll help you come up with a strategy to mitigate what we call ‘pacifiers’ and ‘detractors’, and develop tools to optimize your life, even amid a crisis.
